Why Privilegium?

Lake Garda - Lacus Benacus - Where nature has done miracles! Where the Mediterranean landscape with its cypresses, olives and lemons has gone as far as the snow-capped mountains. Here lies the largest lake in northern Italy, 200 kilometres north of its own climate zone. And it is here that our little paradise lies, in the heart of a beautiful olive grove, overlooking the Scaliger Castle of Lazise.

The origins of Lazise Castle date back to the 9th century, when the German Emperor Otto II granted the local population administrative autonomy in 983 with the act Privilegium, thus giving rise to the 'first Italian municipality'. We too feel privileged to live in this place of peace, in the intact natural countryside of Lazise, so peaceful and so close to the shores of Lake Garda. We are happy to share the PRIVILEGIUM with you!
